BILL WITHERS

"It's his nostalgic voice that makes every song he sings sound so personal and full of lessons on caring about the world and the people around you. Every time I listen to his debut album, I imagine him being my grandfather who's bestowing his wisdom and life experiences on me."

SAM COOKE

"A singer's singer, a blueprint to singing from the soul, Sam was indeed that man. His music was full of charisma, love, and purpose. His voice was incredibly expressive yet so simple, like his style. I'm very thankful for his contribution to music and black history."

CHUCK JACKSON

""He had soul, he had a classy vibrato, Chuck Jackson to me was the perfect combination of being rough and refined with his voice and music. I do believe he's underappreciated and unfortunately forgotten by the masses in the music industry, but there are still others like me who respect and recognize his work.""

RICK JAMES

"He was sexy, confident, and incredibly unapologetic. He was for the people and his energy was contagious. Slick Rick is an unforgettable lightning bolt of pure funk. I aspire to not give a damn as much as he didn't."

SMOKEY ROBINSON

"The angelic vibrato, the joyful tone, and charming smile, I've never wanted to fan girl and be so envious over a man in my life until I studied Smokey & The Miracles. "Oh Baby Baby" makes me want to cry and scream it to the top of my lungs! Smokey is one cool cat to be influenced by for sure. We also share a love for an eclectic range of music. I look to Smokey as a musical uncle of mine."

LITTLE RICHARD

"Oh man! Little Richard has this crazy combination of Soul, Gospel, and Rock in his voice. Everybody knows "Tutti Frutti". What I love about Little Richard is his authentic way of singing. It's a little hard to articulate exactly what I mean, but the easiest way to describe it is to relate his music to Beyonce's. The two have distinct voices and the way they use their voices in their songs make it hard for other people to do their songs justice. It's as if other renditions fall pale in comparison because of their unique style. There's only one Little Richard 'The Architect of Rock 'n' Roll'."

EDDIE FLOYD

"Eddie Floyd and "Knock On Wood" was magic. He has a fun and exciting tone in his voice that makes everything he sings a feel-good tune. I aspire to carry that grown man essence he delivers in his performances and keep a crowd just as energized as he does with 'Knock On Wood.'"

JOHNNY MATHIS

"He carried the class, the sophistication, and the timeless delivery of simplistic singing in his catalog. Johnny Mathis to me is the male-equivalent to Dionne Warwick. Like Dionne, he could easily sing a ballad, tackle songs with quicker tempos, and add his own flavor to any genre he pleased."
